TED Talk _ (Theology, Education, Discipleship)

In 1972, the organist at Mount Zion Presbyterian Church became pregnant and needed a substitute. The church welcomed a young high school student to assist for a time. Her name was Roma Benner, now known as Roma Allison.

Roma has served the church faithfully, off and on as organists came and went, for lo these many years. We hope and believe that will continue to be the case. In addition to her own musical artistry, has brought out opportunities for praise through song in others. From a young woman wanting to sing “Mary Did You Know” to a gentleman picking up a musical instrument in retirement that he hadn’t touched in years, has brought out skills in many of us, and helped us allow the songs in our hearts to take flight.

Several weeks ago, Roma approached our church leadership and said that she needed to find a way to lighten the load of some of her church duties for a time. After considering several options, the church has secured the services of Emily Lewis, who has played at our church before and whose family is well known among us, to serve as accompanist for the choir through the end of May. During that time, Roma will continue to play for other parts of the 8:00 and 10:00 am services along with the hymns. We do expect and want Roma to return to her full duties among us.

Please take the opportunity not only to thank Roma for her continued service, but to wish Emily well in hers.

See you in worship and in service,

Pastor Mike
