Easter Sunday Services are Sunday, April 4 at 8:00 and 10:00 am.

One Great Hour of Sharing Offering is collected during Lent.  Each gift helps to improve the lives of people who lack sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity.  This offering provides us a way to share God’s love with our neighbors in need.  One Great Hour of Sharing makes a difference in the world through three programs:  Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People.

Rose Belcher’s 90th birthday was on March 29.

Christian Nurture has prepared goodie bags for Easter this year! We have them ready to pick up on Easter Sunday at either worship service. Can't wait to see you at church!

We will be Celebrating Our Graduates from 8th grade, high school, and college on Sunday, May 2 at the 10:00 am worship service. More details will come soon, but before then, we need to know if you have a college graduate. If so, please contact Molly by April 12.

Mike’s Musings

April means “to open” (thanks to Mary Ellen Hynes for this).  Flowers and foliage are beginning to awaken.  At our longitude in the globe, this is a time of change and shifting contexts.  Even if the evening and some days are chilly, more time is now consumed with the shining of the sun than the twinkling of stars.  And it is in this time that we are celebrating Holy Week and the Passion of the Lord.

I am so excited for the celebration of Easter!  Please know that there will be wonderful music from our choir at the 8:00 a.m. service, as well as the 10:00 a.m. service.  If you never come to the 8:00 a.m. service, this would be a great weekend to give it a try!

Did you know that Adult Church School is up and running again?  After Molly’s engaging Lenten offering during the Lenten season, we’re going back to an old favorite.  The Wired Word says it’s material is “as fresh and exciting as this week’s news”.  There is a brief summary of a couple of items from this week’s news (which always seems fair to me) and scripture brought in to relate to the topic.  This material has been well received in the past.  If you decide to join in some Sunday at 9:00 a.m., you won’t have any catching up to do.  See you there!

Okay, I’ll admit it:  I always wondered about the custom of Easter eggs.  Why do we color them and go looking for them?  Should anyone else be as clueless as I, here’s what I found in Companion to the Calendar:

“Dying eggs in rainbow colors can be a celebration of the promise made to Noah and all the animals after the great flood…An egg hunt is a search for life.  Like the holy women [at the tomb], we discover that life has conquered death.”

We need help getting our YouTube channel up to 100 "likes", which will allow us to have a better presence on that platform.  Please go to:  www.youtube.com/channel/ UCnCfbSv8AEzBepsfeNGKIyQ (the name of the channel is MTZ Presby Church) and "like" us!

See you in worship and in service—

     Pastor Mike
