One Great Hour of Sharing Offering

is collected during Lent.  Each gift helps to improve the lives of people who lack sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity.

This offering provides us a way to share God’s love with our neighbors in need.

One Great Hour of Sharing makes a difference in the world through three programs:  Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People.

Dear friends,

Thank you for the kind thoughts and prayers regarding Tom's hand injury. The surgery was January 19, and his splint was removed on March 3. We consider ourselves blessed that the injury has healed well considering it could have been much worse.  We are thankful to be in such a caring congregation, despite the fact that we have had to be virtual in much of what we do.

                                 Sincerely, Tom and Anne Gore

Christian Nurture is preparing goodie bags for Easter this year!  We will have them ready to pick up on either Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday at either worship service.  Can't wait to see you at church!

Mike’s Musings

I love a parade, the tramping of feet…

Last Sunday was the one-year anniversary of the last sabbath we worshipped together before COVID hit, and like so many in recent days, I found myself thinking over the events of the past 12 months.  As trying as these days have been, one of the real highlights of church life was when Molly Tenuto ventured the thought of a Palm Sunday Car Caravan; lo and behold, 55 cars showed up, and we had the largest mass proclamation of our faith in the community during the time I’ve been here.  It was festive and wonderful.

And we’re going to do it again.

Palm Sunday is March 28 this year.  We invite you to join us in the parking lot at 9:00 a.m. to get your palm and to be lined up with other cars.  We’ll head out around 9:10 or 9:15 and hopefully be back to parade into the sanctuary so that we can begin worship promptly at 10:00 (because, after all, we are Presbyterians, and do things “decently and in order”).  It should be a wonderful morning!  That Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. our musicians have prepared a very meaningful Maundy Thursday Service, and then on Sunday, the Resurrection of Our Lord…and perhaps just a bit of feeling that we ourselves are headed for new life.

************

Last Sunday we had the opportunity not only to ask God’s blessing on our new leaders as we celebrated the ordination and installation of Elders, Deacons, and a Trustee; we had the chance as well to thank those who led us through the last year.  Let’s not let go unnoticed the fact that those leaders had to deal with a very unusual situation.  Whether or not to have public worship probably was not what any of them would have thought would be the foremost issue when they were first approached by the Nominating Committee.  The discussions that our Elders had on whether to worship in person—4 of them, by my count—were of the highest order, motivated by the most sincere concerns.  And our Deacons did a marvelous job of reaching out to the congregation and keeping people informed.

When you have the opportunity, please thank those you know who shared in the task of leadership during this past year.

See you in worship and in service—

     Pastor Mike
