TED Talk___ (Theology, Education, Discipleship)

As you probably know, July 5 will be our first Sunday worshipping in the sanctuary since March 22.  We will be continuing to offer our worship services online, but I have to admit I’m excited to be resuming our 8:00 am and 10:00 am services.

A “Re-entry Task Force” (also called the “Getting the Horses Back in the Barn Task Force”—ask Phil Farrell) has done a lot of work planning for our resumption of in-person sanctuary worship.  Whatever your feelings about the COVID-19 situation, please recognize and respect the difficulty of their work.

If you haven’t already, you’ll be getting a letter soon fully laying out all of the Task Force’s guidelines, which you will want to read.  Here are some of the highlights:

  • Each person entering the sanctuary for Sunday worship will have their temperature taken.
  • Ushers will seat you according to our best efforts to follow physical distancing guidelines.
  • We expect those entering and departing church to be masked, and strongly recommend that you remain masked during the worship service.
  • Please avoid physical contact with one another.
  • There will, at this point, be no congregational singing.
  • We will minimize prayers that we say together or responsive liturgies.
  • There will be no nursery available.
  • At this time, there will be no “Coffee Hour” following the services.

Our leadership will continually be reassessing our arrangements.  We fully expect to be changing our plans as the situation shifts.  In the meantime, we consider ourselves fortunate to be living somewhere where worshipping together in person is considered safe.

     Keep calm and worship on—

     Pastor Mike
