The Presbyterian Women's Association is holding a Drop-By Good-Bye Party for Lois Howlett on Sunday, June 28 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Church Prayer Garden.  Please come by and bid her well on this new journey in her life.

To My Church Family:
It is with sadness that I am informing you that I will be selling my home and moving to St Louis, hopefully around July 2. I am sad to leave all of you, but will be very happy to be near my son and family.
As you know, I am a prayer warrior and pray always for guidance and discernment. The Holy Spirit has given me answers and the strength and courage to move into the future.
I will miss you all.
In Christian Love, Lois Howlett

CHURCH “REOPENING”

A poor term for what’s happening; the church has never really been closed, and we all know the church is more than a building. Still, so many of us have missed worshipping with one another so much! One thing I have become aware of in conversation with MZPC members over the last weeks is the different amount of risk each of us is willing to assume with regard to COVID-19. People who have known each other well over a period of years have very different opinions on many issues about “reopening.” Those opinions tend to come out as we discuss decisions about resuming in-person worship. Our “Re-Entry Task Force” has several issues they need to decide (actually, they recommend to Session):

  • Will temperatures be taken?
  • Will masks be required?
  • Will we be using hymnals and Bibles during the first weeks of worship?
  • What about singing?
  • We will probably continue to have “virtual worship” online; where will that equipment go in the sanctuary? Who will operate it?

Many more questions than these need to be addressed. Let’s all give each other a wide berth in terms of this issue and our different opinions. This is an unusual situation, and we need to be especially understanding and hospitable.

ROMA AND BILL

While we will be happy for them, it will be a sad day for the rest of us when, on August 9, the Allisons spend their last Sunday with us as organist and sound technician. The Deacons will be organizing the way in which we bid them a fond farewell, and I’ll save my words of gratitude until that time. I’ll just say this: they have been so much more to us than people filling these jobs, and we are so very grateful for their ministry. Please pray for our Worship Committee and Session as we determine the road ahead for this component of our worship.

Keep calm and worship on—

Pastor Mike
