Body and Soul

Molly and I have been discussing a way toward better health and faith, and have identified what we think is a practical lifestyle program designed to improve health at every level. We will be utilizing the outline of this plan to fit the needs of our church as best as we can. It is called the Daniel Plan: 40 days to a Healthier Life. Many of us may have read in the Bible about Daniel’s greatness and how it came from applying God’s will to his own life. He resisted changing the good habits he formed, even when the king insisted and could have brought Daniel death. Both his physical and spiritual diets were an important part of his relationship with God. He ate carefully and lived prayerfully, and was one of the great prophets of the Old Testament. The Daniel Plan consists of focusing on 5 essentials:

  • Faith: Making lifestyle choices necessary to become healthy.
  • Food: Eating delicious whole foods that bring vitality and energy to your body and mind. It’s about learning that even your food choices can honor God and his purposes for your life. It is about abundance, not deprivation.
  • Fitness: Discover movement that you enjoy and treat your body as a gift from God.
  • Focus: Focus your thoughts on God’s plan and priorities for your life.
  • Friends: When it comes to getting healthy, two are always better than one. Everybody needs a buddy, because we are better together.

This plan is a 40 day plan to a healthier life, and can certainly go beyond. We would like to begin this around lent, so that it ends before Easter.

Please let Molly or Gloria know if this is of interest to you, and also when a good meeting time for you would be.

What is the difference between Religion and Spirituality? Religion is a set of beliefs a group of people subscribe to while Spirituality is a personal journey that takes place with one’s self and God. How does this fit in your daily life?

We are providing an opportunity for everyone to Reflect on Their Relationship with God.

The Sanctuary and Parlor will be open for your prayerful, personal, quiet time with God. Please enter via sanctuary door or elevator doors. Hours are Saturday, February 1, 11:00 am-2:00 pm and 4:00-6:00 pm. Gloria Marshall will be available.
