We will be hosting a Flu Immunization Clinic on Sunday, September 30 after the 10:00 am service in the Fellowship Hall.  The cost is $65 for those who self pay. For those with some insurances, Medicaid, and Medicare, there is no cost. Please bring your insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare card which will enable the Health Department to bill for the service. Those insurances which will cover the flu vaccine are: some Etna plans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Coventry, Consociate, United Healthcare, Humana, Cigna, and Health Alliance. This year anyone 18 and over will be given a new Flu Block vaccine which provides more effective coverage for the various strains of flu virus.

Blessing of the Animals is Sunday, September 30 at 4:30 pm in the Prayer Garden

TED Talk _ (Theology, Education, Discipleship)

On September 30 at 4:30 pm, in our Prayer Garden, we’ll mark the Feast of St. Francis by celebrating our friends of fur and feather. Please join us that day for our Blessing of the Animals.

St. Francis’ feast day is actually on the 4th of October. Although Protestants have largely distanced ourselves from the practice of “feast days”, St. Francis’ reputation for ecology, stewardship of animals, and working for peace between faiths has allowed his legacy to endure.

Just a few guidelines to make sure that we are caring properly for our critter companions:

  • Dogs should be on leashes.
  • Cats should be in carriers or securely held in their human’s arms.
  • Birds, small mammals, reptiles, etc. should be in cages or tanks with secure lids.
  • Each animal may receive an individual blessing during the service.
  • Be a good steward of your pet and please come prepared to clean up after him/her.

Speaking of furry friends being examples of God’s love, please congratulate Duffy Bastl (seen here with Sharman) for Duffy’s certification as a Therapy Pet by Pet Partners. Well done, Duffy!

See you in worship and in service!

Pastor Mike
