TED Talk _ (Theology, Education, Discipleship)

All Together Now:

Christian Unity Service

January 20, 2019 7:00 p.m.

So why should you consider going to a worship service on Sunday evening after there’s been one (actually, two) on Sunday morning? This isn’t like back in the ‘40s, after all, when some would be expected to go to church Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night!

On Sunday evening, January 20, we’ll have our second Christian Unity Service in Mount Zion—an opportunity to worship with other Christians in our community. Father Steve Arisman of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Reverend Ted Hartley of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, and I led last year’s service, which was at the Methodist Church, with Father Steve preaching. This year Ted will be bringing the Word to us, and we will have the privilege of hosting others to our own beautiful sanctuary.

Something very different and exciting for this year’s service is the Combined Community Choir. This was Rich Hansen’s idea, and is a wonderful opportunity not only for those gifted in this way to worship together, but provides the chance for singers to join in a larger choir than that in which they normally sing. There will be one rehearsal, and one rehearsal only: from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in our sanctuary on the evening of Wednesday, January 16. All are welcome!

Please take this opportunity to strengthen our bonds with other Christians in our community.

This is from church growth expert, Win Arn:

Question: In your research, have you found that there’s one specific reason that visitors come to church?

His response: The friendship factor.

“We’ve asked more than 50,000 people over the last 10 years why they came to church, and between 75 and 90 percent of respondents say, ‘I began attending because someone invited me.’”

The Inviting Church

See you in worship and in service,

Pastor Mike
